The Industrial Digital Assistant (IDA) was DataMyte’s entry into the emerging market of handheld computing. The Windows CE based rugged device provided an ideal platform to develop apps targeting the manufacturing floor. The device had the added ability of recording input from Rockwell Automation’s precision gauges.
My contributions:
I first got my feet wet in enterprise software development with this project. My primary responsibility was building control panel applets, and coding device drivers for keyboard input and serial communication, as well as compiling the device’s Windows CE based operating system using Microsoft’s Platform Builder. During the project I spent several months in the position of Lead Engineer. That opportunity brought the added responsibilities of hardware certification, documentation handoff, SDK generation, and project delivery (version 1.0).
